This is a great literacy bag to go along with a unit on bats or with Janell Cannon's
book STELLALUNA. The cute hand-painted canvas bag features a bat hanging
upside down from its tree. Inside the bag, you will find EIGHT educational
activities. As always, activities are printed on cardstock and laminated in three
mil. thick laminating film for durability.
1. Hand-painted canvas bag (bag will be either black, dark blue or dark purple)
2. Bat Diagram--Students label the diagram of the bat using the vocabulary at the
top of the page (laminated for wipe off use)
3. Batty for Subtraction--Students match the caves with the subtraction problem
to the bat with the correct answer (laminated and cut out)
4. Bat Word Unscramble--Students unscramble the letters to form a bat themed
word (laminated for wipe off use)
5. BATS Acrostic --Students complete an acrostic poem to describe bats
(laminated for wipe off use)
6. Bat Crossword Puzzle-- Students answer the questions to complete the
crossword puzzle (laminated for wipe off use)
7. Stellaluna Vocabulary--Students match the card with the vocabulary word from
the story to the correct definition card (laminated and cut out)
8. Bird and Bat Comparison--Students complete the venn diagram using the
words in the word bank to compare and contrast birds and bats (laminated for
wipe off use)
9. Fruit Bat Facts--Students read each sentence, decide if the statement is true or
