| Where the Wild Things Are |
This literacy bag is based on the popular children’s book WHERE THE WILD
THINGS ARE. Inside the hand-painted bag canvas bag you will find 8 FUN,
TEACHER-CREATED EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES. As always, all activities
are printed on cardstock, laminated in thick 3 mil. laminating pouches for
extra durability, and cut out for you.
1. Adorable HAND-PAINTED bag featuring loveable "monsters"
2. LARGE HUNGRY THING RHYMING MONSTERS—Students match together
the two Hungry Thing cards with the rhyming words
3. MONSTER PATTERNING—Students finish the monster patterns by placing
the correct monster cut out in the box
4. MUNCH, MUNCH, MUNCH MONSTER PHONICS—Students sort the food
items according to their initial sound (/m/ or /p/) and place them on the
correct monster on the mat
5. MONSTER GRAPH—Students sort the six different types of monsters and
graph them on the wipe off graph
6. WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE STORY SEQUENCING—Students put the
story cards in the correct order to retell the story (10 cards featuring Max in
his wolf suit.)
7. MONSTER DRAW A RHYME—Parent reads the rhyme, the student
complete the rhyme and draws what the rhyme said. Completed drawing is
a monster.
8. MONSTER MUNCH RECIPE CARD—Reproducible recipe cards (4 per
page) with the recipe for Monster Munch snack mix for students to keep at
home and make. (not pictured)
9. GROW A MONSTER—Directions for students to grow their own grass
monster. Super science activity and wonderful for observation skills!
