This literacy bag extends the book THE RECESS QUEEN by
Alexis O'Neill.  The hand-painted bag features Mean Jean,
herself, and inside are seven activities to extend the learning
and the fun.  All activities are on card-stock, laminated, cut out
and ready to use!

1.  Mean Jean's Rhyming Words: Words that rhyme don't always
have to be spelled alike.  Below are some examples from the
story.  Draw a line to connect the rhyming words.

2.  Meet Long E: The long "E" sound can be made a few
different ways.  One way is the letter digraph "ee".  Look at the
pictures and words below and decide if the word has a long /E/
or short /E/ sound.  If it is long, write the letters "ee" in the blank.
If it is short, write the letter "e" in the blank.

3.  The Queen of Q:  Circle the pictures that begin with the
letters "qu".

4.  Sassy Synonyms:  Circle the two words in each row  that
mean the same or almost the same.

5.  Verb Tense:  Fill in the blanks by writing the missing future,
past or present tense of the verbs from the story in each row.

6.  Noun & Verb Sort:  Sort the words from the story according to
whether the word is a noun or a verb.  Place it onto the correct
section of the sorting mat.

7.  Jump Rope Chants:  Have fun learning the new jump rope
chants will practicing your jump rope.
