THE FLEA'S SNEEZE
1. Story Retelling pieces--Students used the pieces to retell and/or sequence
the story (comprehension)

2. Long Vowel Board Game--Students draw a picture card from the turned over
stack.  After they have said the name of the picture, they move their token to
the next space on the game board that names the long vowel heard in the
word. (phonemic awareness)

3.  Rhyming Match--Students match the rhyming card pairs featuring words
from the story (phonemic awareness)

4.  Long or Short?--Students say the name of each picture, read the two words
under the picture (one long vowel word and one short vowel word) and circle
the word that correctly names each picture. (ie: tub or tube, plan or plane)

5.  Long Vowel Dominoes Game--Students use the laminated picture dominoes
in a way similar to regular dominoes.  The only difference is they aren't match
pictures, but are matching long vowel sounds.  (long a pictures must be
matched to other long a pictures--even if the pics are an acorn and a plane)  (42
dominoes)

6.  Alliteration Activity (fluency) Students fill in the blanks in the sentences to
create tongue twisters (examples of alliteration) and then practice saying them.
(ie: Five ______ fleas _______ to Philly) (This hasn't been photographed yet)

7.  Short vowel sort: Students place the short vowel word cards into the correct
pocket

8.  Activity Letter:  Explaining how to do each activity
