
Great for Thanksgiving, is a fun-filled, educational literacy bag based on the
Magic Treehouse book THANKSGIVING ON THURSDAY by Mary Pope Osborne.
This teacher-created bag is geared toward upper elementary and has several fun
and educational activities! As always, all activities are teacher-created laminated
in thick 3 mil. laminating film and are printed on card stock for durability.

Match the description card to the character it describes. These cards could be
used along with many other books about the first Thanksgiving as well.
Characters covered include: Squanto, Pricilla, Miles Standish, Governor Bradford,

3. Pilgrim Talk
Match the boy pilgrim with the "old time" word to the pilgrim girl with its
word/meaning from today
4. Children Then and Now
Complete the Venn Diagram to compare pilgrim children with today's children.

5. Creative Writing Activity
Write about how to make the perfect Thanksgiving turkey (laminated)
6. Native American Symbols Rebus story
Read the rebus story about the Indian. Use the symbol cards to learn the
meaning of each symbol. (The story is also completely written out on the
reverse side.)
7. Indian Symbol Writing
Use the Native American symbol cards to write your own Indian themed rebus
sentences. You can also create your own symbols for words.
8. Turkey Trivia
Try to answer the turkey and Thanksgiving related multiple choice trivia
questions. Check the back of the cards for the correct answers.
9. Turkey Tangram
