| SHORT VOWEL LEARNING CENTER ACTIVITIES |
| 1. SHORT VOWEL BOARD GAME Students draw a picture card from the turned over stack. After they have said the name of the picture, they move their token to the next space on the game board that names the short vowel heard in the word. $3.00 2. Initial Short Vowel Sound Word Puzzles Match together each two piece puzzle that features a word using each of the short vowel sounds at the beginning of the word. $3.00 3. SHORT VOWEL DOMINOES Students use the laminated picture dominoes in a way similar to regular dominoes. The only difference is they aren't matching pictures, but are matching short vowel sounds. (short a pictures must be matched to other short a pictures--even if the pics are an apple and a bat) (42 dominoes) $4.00 4. SHORT VOWEL WORD SORT Students place the short vowel picture cards and word cards into the correct pocket. $4.00 5. THE MISSING VOWEL Students write in the short vowel that is missing from each word pictured. $1.25 6. SHORT VOWEL BINGO Have a "caller" read out a word from the caller's cards. The players will find the picture on their bingo mats and mark it. The first player to make five in a row wins the round. (Includes two Bingo cards and a set of caller's cards.) $2.50 7. WHEEL OF VOWELS Say the name of each picture shown on the wheel. Decide what vowel sound you hear in each word. Place the clothespin with the correct vowel on the space. $2.50 8. LONG OR SHORT Students say the name of each picture, read the two words under the picture (one long vowel word and one short vowel word) and circle the word that correctly names each picture.
