| PARTS OF SPEECH LEARNING CENTER ACTIVITIES |
These parts of speech learning center activities are divided into two groups: Nouns & Verbs and
Adjectives & Adverbs. All activities are laminated, cut out, and include an instruction card so your
center is ready to use. You can see pictures of each activity by clicking on the picture links at the
bottom of the page.

1. Noun/Verb Three Way Matching cards: $2.50
Three sets of cards: one set with a picture of someone doing something, one set with verbs and one set
with nouns. Students match each picture card with the verb card that shows what action is being done and
then with a noun card that gives the name of something in that picture.
2. Noun/Verb Word Sort: $2.50
Students sort the word tile cards according to whether they are nouns or verbs
3. Complete the Sentence: $2.00
Students fill in the blanks of the sentences with the noun and verb word tile cards to create a sentence
that makes sense
4. Common and Proper Nouns: $1.50
Students draw a line to match the proper noun with it's common noun
5. Verbs-Past or Present: $1.50
Students fill in the missing verbs on the chart
6. Lights Camera Action! Verb Charades: $2.50
Students draw a Charades card and act out that verb while others try to guess the word
7. Noun or Verb board game: $3.00
Students draw a card that says either common noun, proper noun, or verb and move their token to the next
space on the game board that has a word that fits that category
8. Create a Sentence: $1.50
Students create a sentence that tells about the picture. They then must circle all the nouns in each
sentence and underline one verb in each sentence

ADJECTIVE / ADVERB ACTIVITIES
9. Adj./Adv.Three Way Matching Cards: $2.50
Look closely at each picture card. Match the adjective card and adverb card that describes something
from the picture. (ie: There is a picture of a ballerina on one card. The adjective card that matches is
"pointed toes" and the adverb card is "dancing gracefully"
10. Adjective & Adverb Round-Up: $2.50
Read each word on the bull card. Decide if it is an adjective that describes a noun or an adverb that
describes a verb. Place it in the correct lasso.
11. Adverb Wheel: $3.00
Turn the outer wheel to create a new verb/adverb combination. Use it to write a sentence. See how many
different sentences you can make. (The verbs on the inner wheel are MOVED, ATE, DROVE, TALKED and
the adverbs on the outer wheel are NOISILY, HAPPILY, CAREFULLY, SLOWLY, YESTERDAY, and EASILY.)
12. Make a Monster: $3.50
Roll each of the three dice. Draw a monster to that matches the description that you rolled. (1st die:
friendly, sad, mean, surprised, angry, hungry. 2nd die: tall, short, fat, thin, round, fuzzy. 3rd die: blue,
green, red, yellow, orange, purple)
13. Adjective Descriptive Writing: $1.50
For each picture write at least three adjectives that describe it.
14. Adverb Details: $1.50
Read each sentence and decide whether the underlined adverb tells how, when or where. Circle the
correct answer below the sentence.

Roll the die and pick a card. Decide whether the underlined word is an adjective or adverb. If you are
correct, move the correct number of spaces and follow any directions on the space where you landed.
