| The Napping House |
This wonderful literacy bag was created to go along with Audrey Wood's
timeless book The Napping House. Included with this bag are 8
educational, teacher-created activities from various areas of the
curriculum. Activities are printed on cardstock, laminated in 3 mil thick
laminating film, cut out and ready to.
Included:
1. Hand-painted Canvas Bag
2. Story retelling pieces--Use the pieces to retell or sequence the story of
The Napping House.
3. Ordinal Numbers--Put the numbered beds in their correct order 1-6. Then,
using the directions on the yellow Ordinal Numbers paper, put the felt
characters on the correct beds.
4. Spatial Awareness--Using the bed and the cutouts from the story, follow
the directions on the blue Spatial Awareness paper to put the pieces in the
proper place in relation to the bed (on the bed, under the bed, etc.).
5. Color Words/Color Matching--Put the colored rainbow pieces in their
correct place on the rainbow by matching the color to the color word.
6. Shape House--Count the shapes used to make the house. Record your
answers on the page using the special pen. What shape is there the most
of? What shape is there the least of? What is your favorite shape?
7. Daytime or Nighttime?--Look at each picture. Circle the sun, if it is a day
time activity, circle the moon if it is a night time activity, or circle the star if
it is something you do or see both day and night.
8. How Many Feet Does Granny’s Bed Meet?--Write the number of feet
each person or animal in the bed has. Draw the feet in the box next to each.
Count them all up to see the total number of feet that the Granny's bed will
meet.
9. The Laughing House Creative Writing--Think how the story would be
different if the Napping House was a Laughing House? Who would be there
and what would they be doing? What colors do you think we'd see in the
book? Draw a picture to go with your writing.
