For sale is a new Ladybug literacy bag which goes great with Eric Carle's
THE GROUCHY LADYBUG. Included in the hand-painted bag are 10
teacher-created activities from different curriculum areas. All activities
are laminated in 3 mil. film, cut out and ready to go.
1. Hand-Painted Canvas Bag
2. Story retelling pieces--Retell the story of the Grouchy Ladybug using the
animal pieces. You can also line them up according to size order.
3. Missing vowels-- Put the correct ladybug vowel on the spaces of the leaf
to create the long vowel word that matches the picture. (This can also be
made with short vowels at your request.)
4. Time Check-- Complete both sides of the clock wipe off. On one side,
you will draw the hands on the clock to make it match the time shown. On
the other side, you will write the time shown on the clock.
5. Symmetry--A ladybug’s spots are symmetrical, which means they are
the same on both sides of the body. Look at the one side of the ladybug’s
wings and draw the spots in the same place on the other side.
6. What time of day?--Read each activity on the cards. Decide whether you
do the activity in the morning, afternoon, or at night. Place it on the mat in
the correct column.
7. ABC Order--Put the ladybug animal cards in ABC order. THese can also
be used to match with the pictures from the story retelling pieces.
8. Feelings-- Match the sentence with the emotion that would best describe
how you feel. Then draw a picture of what you face would look like when
you feel that way.
9. Label the diagram--Label the parts of the ladybug on the diagram using
the words from the box.
10. Lady bug Math--Solve the addition and subtraction problems on the
ladybugs spots.
11. Ladybug Vest--Follow the directions to make your own ladybug vest
using a paperbag, scissors and paint.
