This educational literacy bag is based on the book THE GIANT JAM
SANDWICH. Inside the hand-painted canvas bag, you will find NINE,
teacher-created educational activities in to help reinforce skills in the areas of
reading, writing, language and math. As always, all activities are printed on
quality cardstock, laminated in three mil thick laminating pouches, cut out and
ready to go.
INCLUDED:

2. Initial letter sounds: Add the first letter to the blank on each piece of bread
to complete the word that names the picture shown.
3. Jam-N-Jelly Roll: Spin the Jam and Jelly spinner 15 times. After each spin,
make a tally mark in the box to show what you landed on. Count and record
your tally marks. When you have finished, answer the questions on the right
side of the page by circling the correct answer.
4. Story Pyramid: Fill in each section of the pyramid according to the
directions. (Focuses on main character, setting, problem and solution)
5. Sandwich Graph: Ask 10 people which of the sandwiches listed are their
favorites. Graph your answers.
6. Making the Sandwich: Put the steps in the correct order to show how the
townspeople made the giant jam sandwich.
7. Adjective & Noun Match: Draw a line to match the adjective of the left to
the noun it best describes on the right.
8. Order Up!: Put the bread with jam slices in order from 0-10. You can also
use these cards to create addition or subtraction problems by turning them
over, and choosing two numbers to add or subtract.
9. Catch those Wasps!: Use the numbered bread with jam cards as counting
mats. Pick a mat and place the correct number of wasps on each one.
10. Creative Writing: The town baker came up with the idea for creating a
giant jam sandwich to catch the wasps. Pretend you lived in the town, what
might you suggest to catch those pesky insects?
