This literacy bag is based on the book CHICKA CHICKA BOOM BOOM. Its terrific
for learning or reinforcing letter names. All activities are teacher-created.
Everything is in color, laminated, cut out and ready to use. Included:
1. HAND PAINTED large canvas tote bag featuring an coconut tree with letters and
the book title
2. FIVE COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS to help parents discuss the book with their
child
3. Letter Matching-- Students match the coconut tree cards with the uppercase
letters on them to the coconut cards with the corresponding lowercase letter.
These can also be used for a Memory game.
4. Letter Sequencing-- Students write in the missing letters in the alphabet
sequence on the coconut tree strips (10 strips total that include all uppercase and
lowercase letter)
5. Letter Writing-- Students practice writing tracing both the uppercase and
lowercase alphabet on the wipe off card
6. Writing Activity Sheet-- Students write and draw their favorite part of the story.
7. Counting Activity-- Students use the picture in the book to count how many
letters were in the coconut tree befoore they all fell out
8. Edible Chicka Chicka Tree--Directions are given for parents to help their child
make an edible Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree
9. Foam Magnetic Coconut Tree (approx. 12") with Magnetic Letters for re-
enacting the story (magnets are not pictured)
10. Chicka Chicka Bingo Bingo--Play a letter Bingo game (the magnets can be use
