This is the AWESOME AUSTRALIA literacy bag. Inside the cute
hand-painted bag featuring the Australian flag, you will find TEN great
activities for exploring the continent of Australia with your students. As
always, I strive to create activities that are FUN and EDUCATIONAL.
Activities are printed on cardstock, laminated in thick (three mil.)
laminating film and cut out for you. Adorable kangaroo counters are also
included in this bag for a graphing activity.
1. Australian animal / name matching (pics of different Australian animals
to be matched to cards with the outline of Australia with the animal name
inside)
2. BLOKE Bingo game: You can play this type of Bingo game, by having a
friend read the English meaning of the Australian words below while you
mark them on the card. Use the Speaking Strine vocabulary card to help
you.
3. Speaking Strine: Vocabulary/phrase card with strine and English
translation for students to write their own sentences using the words.
4. Strine Sentences: Students use the Speaking Strine vocabulary card
to translate five sentences into American English.
5. Logic Game: This is a 4 square by 4 square grid. Students place the
Australian symbols cut outs (Sydney Opera House, Flag, Kangaroo, Map)
in all the squares, but cannot have the same ones in a row or column.
6. Venn Diagram: Students place the cards with facts into the correct
areas of the Venn Diagram according to whether they describe the US.,
Australia or both
7. Kangaroo Graphing: Students graph the colored Kangaroo counters
(kangaroo counters are included)
